Family Layout with WOW

Hi this is Jenifer here with my family project.  I did a fun messy layout of my family to give you an idea of how fun and messy Wow can be.
Step 1:  Using the funky boarder strip stamp and the clear gloss super fine embossing powder stamp on the dots.  This will be your first layer.  Heat set.
Step 2:  Using some sprays or even some water color paint over the embossed dots.  The embossed dots act as a resist and the fun colors will make them POP.
Step 3:  Layer!! Layer!! Layer :)  first I did the thread then I dug into my scrap bin and put together some flags along the bottom of my picture.  The fun scallop along the bottom of my picture is a doily that I cut apart.
Step 4:  When everything is adhered in place attach some flowers and a WOW flower center.  I used opaque pastel blue and cotton candy with the Melt it and got this fun swirl effect.  Last but not least I wrote family in the bottom corner with a WoW pen and ebony embossing powder to complete my page.

I hope you have enjoyed my layout today and that you are having a wonderful holiday.

Family Mini Album

Hello! Birgit here today with an embossed mini album cover.

To create this cover I combined two ways of embossing. Dry embossing with embossing folders and heat embossing. Using these 2 together can create awesome effects.

I first stamped my cardstock with yellow ink to add some extra interest. Of course you could use pattered cardstock as well but make sure to use light colors and small prints to get the nicest result.

I added Versamark on the higher parts of one side of the inside of an embossing folder. To do this lightly push the whole ink pad to the folder surface but be careful not to push to hard or you will also cover the lower parts Then I put the cardstock in with the side I want to be heat embossed (so the stamped side) towards the Versamark and run it through my Big Shot. After that I added Metallic Copper embossing powder to the dry embossed cardstock and heated it.

For the cover of this album I used 2 pieces of cardstock with 2 different embossing folders and applied them on a piece of cardboard.

The wooden heart was embossed with a combination of Paprika and Pomegranate. The little chipboard butterflies were embossed with Paprika and while the embossing enamel was still hot I pressed a rubber stamp in it to create some texture. Wait a few seconds to let the hot enamel cool down before removing the stamp.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a wonderful New Year's Eve and a very happy, healthy, joyful, creative and inspiring 2014!!

Happy crafting!

Thanks

The theme this month is Family and I wanted to extend it beyond the normal ideal of family.... to me family is not only the family that you were born into, but also the friends you make as the family you create for yourself - and then for me, there is the additional family in the crafting world - our crafting family...
So I got to thinking about how I could show off some WOW! products while creating a project that included all of the above!
And it came to me at 2am this morning!
This what I wanted to create......

I have created a thank you card...... to say thank you to all my friends and family for all the support they have given me, thank you to WOW! for giving me such wonderful product to work with over the past year and a massive thank you to all of you..... thank you for playing along with the challenges, thank you for stopping by my own blog too to see what I have been up to and for leaving me lovely comments.... and thank you to you all for the inspiration that you all give to me every day....

The products I used for this card can be found here....
I used wow resist paper
           foils

I love love love all the WOW! products and I am already starting my next shopping basket of goodies that I want to get with any Christmas money that I get.... pop on over to the shop to have a look.
I'll be back next year with some more goodies and projects to show you, but until then I hope you have a great festive season with your friends and family.
Merry Christmas

Family Ties

Hi!! It's Sandie here today and I have a mixed media canvas to share for this month's challenge theme -

Family

I created the background by layering on some Prima papers - Buff by Julie Nutting - and then layered gesso. mixed with a little water, on top. Then I added some texture with dry wall tape, washi tape, stiff lace and modelling paste. I used a stencil for the modelling paste. I heat dry each layer with my WOW! heat tool to speed things up.

Once the background had dried I used some bubble wrap with embossing ink and Copper Pearl embossing powder

Taking my Silicone Moulds I made some Roses and Daisies with Melt-It powder mixed with Copper, Gold, & Pearl powders. I arranged them around the Family Ties wheel adding a key tied with gold ribbon. To finish I added a fabric butterfly and some wooden hearts.

Make your own Christmas Tags

Hi, Christine here again with the December project.

I'm always running out of Christmas tags for my family so decided to make my own using WoW embossing powders. So easy to do and gives your presents the personal touch too.

I cut out and embossed three chipboard tags with gold, silver and bronze powders and punched a hole in the top for the ribbon.

Using the "Is it a Bird" stamp, I randomly stamped a tree onto each tag and used an alternative colour embossing powder to give a background design.
This is a good way of decorating backgrounds for cards and your odd papers too. Try adding some small stamped and embossed  images to plain cardstock to revitalise your craft stash, or decorate your own Christmas wrapping papers using the same technique.

I then added some embossed chipboard Trees onto each tag with coloured stars stuck into the branches to add some Christmas sparkle.

Ribbons were added to the top to tie the tags to my presents. Making your own gift-tags means you can personalise the tags to suit each member of the family.

Have a Happy Christmas everyone.

Products used:

Is it a Bird Stamp
Metallic Gold Rich Regular
Metallic Silver

Be Upstanding!

Hi Everyone

This month with WOW the challenge is - Family Projects.  I did make one of these a long time ago and my daughter has a new colour scheme in her bedroom so asked me to do another for her, so I thought I would share it with you.

This mannequin I purchased from a car boot sale for 50pence and I had this ethereal, earthtoney nature idea in mind.  You can pick them up from places like Home Bargains and B & M bargains.

Part of the WOW collection are flocks and foils.  You can do so much with them and combined with double sided sticky sheets, you're onto a winner,  I loved this technique and so I have replicated it for the skirt on the mannequin.

Firstly, I painted the mannequin in white gesso and the stand in black.  If there is a paint I cannot do without it is gesso both in white and black.  It is sooo fantastic as a base for anything. Next I stamped tissue paper with Stazon and WOW Funky border stamp set.  I then tore this into strips and used PVA glue to put it onto the mannequin body.

Once dry, I went over this in peeled paint and vintage photo distress stain, then tapped versamark onto it and heat set with WOW green glitter embossing powder.

The WOW technique came next.  Get a stencil -I chose a Dreamweaver leafy stencil and put in down on one side of the double sided sticky.  Take the different foils, I chose copper, dark blue and green and rubbed this into the stencil.  When pulled away some of it stays in the stencil crevices.  After that I used brown flock and rubbed this over the stencil, putting back in the pot what I didn't use.  I then peeled the stencil off and sprinkled bark embossing powder over the pattern. The embossing powder stuck to the areas hidden by the stencil.  I then used a heat gun lightly over the picture and the embossing powder melted and formed ridges in the pattern. Don't put the heat source too close as it will buckle the sticky sheet.

flock technique

I covered a full A4 sheet of double sided sticky with the stencil and the technique then peeled off the back of the sticky and lay it onto a very colourful piece of 12 x 12 paper.   This would mean that when I curled the pieces for the skirt, the backing paper would show through in some areas and blend with the mannequin torso.

skirt
I then cut this into 2cm strips, curled one end and glued the other onto the torso forming a skirt all the way around.  I then finished off with a velvet ribbon around the waist, tied at the back.

bodice

There are 2 dies - 1 x leaf stacker die by Mariella and a holly vine by Cherry Lynn .  I then covered these in versamark and WOW verdigris embossing powder, then went over the dies with peeled paint and vintage photo distress stains.   I then glued them onto the bodice.

left side

The glitter flower is from my stash of Prima flowers covered in WOW ultra thick clear embossing powder.  you just tap the edges in versamark and then the embossing powder and melt only slightly.  It comes out as rain droplets and the small flowers are made from cork with the spellbinder bauble blossoms 2.

The butterflies are a Anne Griffin punch dipped in versamark and heat set with WOW bark embossing powder.  The watch, key and gem embellishments are from my stash.

The collar around the bodice is made from the spellbinder bauble blossoms 2 out of parchment paper inked with vintage photo distress stain.

I have called this mother earth as it looks very organic to me and looks wonderful on the windowsill of my daughters bedroom.

Hope you've had a little bit of peace and tranquillity this week.

Take care

3 D 'Christmas Card' for special people

I don't like plain old Christmas Cards, so it has become a tradition that I think up something 3-D every year. And every year WOW Embossing and Sizzix is involved somehow.

The Sizzix Noel is cut from trusty old pizza boxes and embossed with Metallic Silver Sparkle which has fantastic coverage. For the bird and bauble (also Sizzix) I used random old dictionary pages which are much thicker than todays book papers. A bit of wire and some pearls and my 3-D card is finished without it taking forever.

This is my family and friends project which, also in time honored tradition, is always completed at the very last minute! Just another 50 or so to go......

Have a very happy Christmas everybody and a great start into 2014!

Family Circle 1901

'Family Circle 1901' by Neil Burley

This is my take on the Family Project theme this month - my great great grandparents with their eight children. A family portrait photograph was taken in 1901, and I have used close up images of each of the family to create the miniatures. Any metal jewellery blank with a bezel edge can be used for this. The 'glass' domes on each miniature are made from WOW! Clear Gloss UH, with the hearts and roses made from a custom molten embossing powder mix featuring the new WOW! Rainbow Black embossing glitter. The background features the WOW! Brocade stamp as well as WOW! White Pearl embossing powder. This is my last post as part of the WOW! Design Team - I do hope you have enjoyed my projects over the last two years and that you have been inspired in your crafting journey :)

Family (and some embossing too)

Hello my dear crafty friends! Irit is here again and this time with a scrapbooking page. Lately I don't scrap too much, also I  still call myself a " primary scrapbooker". But this Family theme we offer this month as our WOW! challenge  was totally perfect for a scrap page and so this lovely page was born.

This is small part of my family: my oldest son, his lovely wife and their first born son Omer. This photo was taken like 8 months ago and since it was taken  they also have a small baby girl. (next year Family theme? )
So here is what I did on this page:
I used a chipboard as a mask and discovered that mists are pretty good  medium to add embossing powder without any other mediums. I just misted the chipboard, then added Pearl Red powder over the wet mist, heat embossed it and.... it looked just as I used embossing ink. It even gave me a good extra texture. Then the wet chipboard was sprinkled with Apple Red powder, again no embossing inks was added, and heat embossed. Perfect! Less cost and good use of the wet mists.
Another use of embossing was over the chipboard Polaroid frame. This time I  used a VersaMark embossing ink and made one single embossed layer of Bright White Regular powder. I love this not so perfect look of the frame and this was a good experiment with just one single layer of regular powder, as usually I do 2-3 layers and use Ultra High powder to make a good coverage of a big surface.
So now it's your turn. Link your Family creations with  heat embossing or WOW! products and you can win some gorgeous goodies. Pin It Now!

Christmas ornaments with WOW

I decided to make some of the salt dough ornaments that I have seen popping up all over pinterest lately.  They were easy enough to make just make sure they are completely dry before doing anything with them.  I wanted them a little bit whiter so I put  on a few layers of bright  white fine embossing powder.  I stamped a tree in the dough and it left a nice imprint when it dried.  It was from the deck the halls stamp set and for the star I used the WOW embossing pen and hand wrote the word joy.  The possibilities are endless, I can't wait to get them all done and on the tree.  I will post  more pictures when I get them all up.

I'll Keep You Warm! - A Wintery Tag

Hello! Birgit here today with a wintery tag.

The tag itself comes from the Prima Tag Pad. I stamped it with Versamark and the "ME Blizzard" stamp and then embossed it with White Twinkle Embossing Glitter The impression is not perfect but I actually like that because it gives a more distressed look.
Then I sprayed it with pink and purple spray paint. The embossed parts resist the paint but you need to dap off the excess paint.

I added a few drops of IZINK Gold at the top of the tag and sprayed a little water on it while holding the tag upright. Let the IZINK run down. The angel wings were painted with the same color.

The heart was cut from cardboard and the top layer peeled off. I painted it with IZINK Opaline and little bit Gold. Then I added some Versamark on top and embossed it with Magical Mauve Embossing Glitter.

Finally I drew some little black circles and colored them in with a white pen. The tag was finished with some Prima sequin flowers and a sentiment.

Let's hope we get some snow soon! Like that way better than rain!
Thank you for stopping by today! Happy crafting!

Christmas Countdown....

Hello all,  boy it's the beginning of crazy season!  Only 30 more sleeps my kids have informed me.  So with that in mind a made a project to help me remember how many more days, cause apparently I need reminding several times a day!

So I decided to make a Christmas countdown.  I used  an old boxed frame from the op shop and covered it all in YUMMY Graphic 45 papers and then cut out the words on my silhoutte,  I love subway art I believe it is called.  After I cut it out I double embossed each letter with the totally DELISH WOW  RUBY ROMANCE embossing glitter.  Put them in the sticker maker and then applied to my project.

Here is a close up of the words,  I so wish I knew how to get a better pic of all the sparkle.

I made this tree,  the idea came from pinterest, but I must say that they always make it look so easy!  Not what I had in my mind but it still looks cool.  I have cut the star out and embossed it with WOW TWINKLE embossing glitter.

On the top I have made some cubes again off the Silhouette site,  and this will be used to do our countdown.  I have embossed the edges of the cubes with WOW GLAMOUR GREEN Embossing Glitter, and the numbers with WOW SILVER BELLS embossing glitter.

The kids came home after school today and all had huge smiles.

Last week I made  a couple of projects for memory maze chipboard and they are totally covered in STUNNING WOW embossing powders,  here is a couple of photos .
If you would like close ups you can always go the the link on my facebook page, click HERE.

So have you been creating in preparation for Christmas,  you still have time to join our monthly challenge,  this months challenge is...

Lastly I would like  to write a quick sorry ,  See this post would normally be up first thing in the morning for you. But I was waiting for the rains to ease off so I could take photos when the phone rang.  Amber-Leigh wanted to come home cause her finger was sore!  Sure was,  she had been bouncing on the bed earlier and landed on it and broke it at the base.  Maybe just maybe the kids might listen when you say "don't bounce on the bed'

Well I'm off to pack my backpack now as we are all off  for a scout trip to a farm.  The kids are very excited.  So until next month HAPPY HAPPY SCRAPPIN,  take care xox Donna

A Christmas Star

Hi there, Nikki here to share my Christmas inspiration with you.
I thought I would make a decoration for my Christmas tree using up all those  scraps of paper that I seem to have collected over the year.
So this is what I made,

I made lots and lots of little flowers from all my scraps and then glued them onto a polystyrene star.
Then I inked the whole star and covered it with gold embossing powder.......
This gave a really pretty edging to all the flowers - I really like this effect and it reflects the lights from the Christmas tree beautifully....
Are you all ready for Christmas?
WOW! Embossing Powders make a lovely stocking filler for all your crafty friends - pop on over to the shop (you will find some fab stamps, foils and silicone moulds too!!!!!).

Happy crafting

Peace

Hi! It's Sandie here today with a little WOW! Embossing inspiration. Following along with our theme this month, Christmas and/or Winter, I have made a Winter tag.

To create the background I started with some blue snowflake paper and added a thin layer of gesso over most of it. Then I added some mesh and more gesso. Using a stencil and modelling paste I added some bubbles.

For the snowflakes I first embossed them with Clear Gloss and then some Mojave.

I coloured the tree with a green copic marker (G21) and then spritzed it with Kiwi Glimmer Mist, dried it off with a heat gun and then embossed it with Clear Gloss.

I sprinkled some Nice Ice Blue and Mojave onto mod podge and heat embossed it so that the powders melted into the mod podge.

I stamped the sentiment onto white card with Memento black ink and then cut the letters apart. I adhered them with mod podge and then put a thick layer of glossy accents over them. Finally, I inked the edges with Broken China distress ink.
